MEET IAN MILLER – HELPING WOMEN FEEL LIKE THEMSELVES AGAIN
Today, Paula, our Lead Nurse at Cancer Care Jávea, went to visit Ian Miller, who has been making beautiful, bespoke wigs for around 15 years.
Ian is a very special man with an incredible talent, and we’re delighted that he continues to offer his skills to help women going through cancer treatment and experiencing hair loss.
His wigs are made using real human hair, creating a wonderfully natural look and feel. Unlike synthetic wigs, real hair can be lighter and more comfortable to wear, which is particularly important here in the Spanish sunshine!
But it’s not just about how the wigs look. Ian wants the whole experience to be positive, relaxed and even fun. He understands how difficult losing your hair can be, particularly when you’re already dealing with the emotional challenges of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Ian generously gives his time and expertise without charging for his labour. If donated hair is available and suitable, he can use this to make a wig. If he needs to use hair from his own supplies, there will be a charge to cover the cost of the hair, which he has purchased himself. Blonde hair can be more expensive due to its availability.
There are also alternatives to a full wig, including hairpieces that can be worn underneath a hat, scarf or turban. These can sometimes be made more quickly, so it’s worth discussing the options with Ian.
OUR MESSAGE TO YOU:
Losing your hair can be one of the hardest parts of going through cancer treatment, but knowing there is someone like Ian who can help can make such a difference.
His aim is simple: to create a wig that looks natural, feels comfortable and helps you still feel like YOU.
A huge thank you to Ian for his kindness, generosity and the time he continues to give to help others.
